The All Hands Raised Partnership operates under the belief that learning doesn’t begin and end in the classroom—transforming children into independent adults is the job of the entire community.
All Hands Raised Partnership Multnomah County
Story: The All Hands Raised RAC serves Multnomah County with a focus on eliminating racial disparities. Collaborative Action Teams made up of practitioners from schools and community organizations implement aligned action with a working agreement that all parties share responsibility, accountability and credit. Recently, in an effort to reduce chronic absenteeism, the Department of Human Services moved case managers from their offices into six demonstration site schools, realigning resources to better serve students and families. Another team that includes the six local superintendents and leaders from six culturally-specific organizations are working together on strategies to reduce disproportionate discipline in schools, focusing on both district-level policies as well as building-level practices to reduce the disproportionate rate of suspensions and expulsions impacting students of color.
